Sinai For Sena! Bibles for the Sena people of Malawi.

Sponsored climb of Mount Sinai & Mount Catherine to raise funds for 10,000 Sena Bibles for the people of Malawi.

In 2006 the Sena people of southern Malawi received the full Bible in their heart language for the first time. It had taken 10 years of painstaking work for the three Sena translators involved in the project. Twenty years on and the Sena church is growing - but they’ve run out of Bibles and are pleading for more! The cost of printing 10,000 Sena Bibles is £48,000 (£4.80 per Bible). With half of that cost already covered I am seeking to raise the balance of £24,000!

What’s the Plan? I'm aiming to climb Mt Sinai (7496ft) & Mt Catherine (8668ft), the highest mountain in Egypt, during a visit to the Sinai Peninsula in early November (7th-12th). The climb itself will take two days, covering 20 miles.

Background: Malawi is one of the world's least developed countries. With a hot & humid climate the population faces a number of challenges, including widespread poverty and a lack of access to good education and healthcare. For the Sena people of southern Malawi, there is the added challenge of having to deal with frequent flooding from the Shire River. A few years ago, the storeroom holding their supply of Sena Bibles was badly damaged by a cyclone, and sadly 2,000 Bibles were destroyed.

Please would you consider supporting me in this challenge so that the Sena people of Malawi can have access to the Word of God in their own language. Thank you in advance for any contribution you are able to make. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Exodus 34:32: “All the Israelites came near to Moses, and he gave them the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai”. As Moses went up and down Mount Sinai to bring God’s law to the Israelites, I am planning to go 'up and down' the mountain to help bring more copies of God’s Word to the Sena people of Malawi!

The vision of TWFTW is to see “the glory of God through transformed lives, by the power of his Word, in everyone’s heart language”.

Our goal is to be instrumental in completing first-time translations of the entire Bible in 1,000 languages by the year 2050.

Our mission is to enable people, ministries and organisations from language communities that do not have the Bible to rise to the challenge of ensuring the availability and accessibility of the Bible in their own language.
